About Totum
At Totum we teach a holistic physical practice that brings the body’s innate intelligence and strength to life. The practice weaves together a variety of disciplines across strength, mobility, dance, acrobatics, natural movement, locomotion and play to create physical freedom in the body. We help students develop strong mind-body awareness, develop new neural-pathways and gain full body strength, mobility and move-ability.
Seeking Teachers
We are casting a wide net and looking for teachers who are passionate about Totum’s philosophy to facilitate weekly group classes (from 1 class/week). Given our practice, we are open to a variety of backgrounds as long as there is a commitment to learn and integrate Totum’s movement philosophy and values into your teaching. As a guideline, the following backgrounds would have strong alignment to our current teachings.
-
Experienced teacher or practitioner in strength based practices, such as callisthenics, gymnastic strength, powerlifting, olympic weight lifting.
-
Experienced teacher or practitioner in dance, martial arts, flexibility, mobility, floorwork, or other similar movement oriented practice.
-
Experienced teacher or practitioner in a general physical education field, with experience running group classes, adapting class content and teachings to individuals with various body and injury histories. Open to physiotherapists, personal trainers, those with a circus background and other physical practices.

We have two opportunities. 1. teach our current strength & movement, handstand, or mobility classes with training and support. 2. teach a class in your area of expertise, incorporating Totum's philosophy and values.
For insurance purposes, we require all teachers to have at least a cert III or cert IV in physical fitness or equivalent, or be able to demonstrate accreditation or expertise in your field.
What we value
Community is at the heart of Totum. A large part of what we do emphasises on collective learning, where students support and facilitate each other through partner-based movement games and scenarios. We are teachers, but also students - learning about each other and continuously evolving our practice to meet the needs of our community.
It is important that our teachers value and facilitate community connection, bring play and/or evidence-based teachings into classes.

The freedom and creativity to bring your flavour to Totum's classes, in alignment with Totum’s philosophy and programming.
