What is your approach?

We are a movement gym specialising in group classes in strength, mobility, handstands, skill-based movement training and more. We draw inspiration from gymnastic strength, calisthenics, dance, and martial arts, among others.

In our studio you will move to develop strength, balance, mobility, coordination, spinal health and joint stability. We move in a wide variety of ways because this is more sustainable, prevents over-use injuries, is what our bodies need evolutionary, creates the strong, adaptable bodies we want, is more fun and engaging for our body, mind and soul, and prepares you to try, learn and succeed at new skills and movements you've never done before.

What is a class like?

In our classes you can expect to be challenged to try new things and encouraged to find your safe edge appropriate to your level of experience, while having fun too. We have all levels classes and our focus is helping you to progress from where you are currently at.  We have beginners and experienced practitioners supporting each other within a class. The common thread is that everyone is looking to have fun, be challenged, and grow.

Each class is different but includes:

  • Locomotion & soft acrobatics:  moving on all fours and learning new movement skills.

  • Strength:  things like pull-ups, muscle ups, pushups, levers, dips, and other calisthenics style movements, as well as deadlifts, squats, and other lifts for the lower body.

  • Hanging & Handbalancing:  Increase joint health, build spinal stability and hand strength, and learn the essentials of hardstanding, cartwheels, and other fun hand balancing movements.

  • Squat development:  build strong and flexible toes, feet, ankles, knees and hips.

  • Movement games, improvisation, and play:  the more we play, the better we become at learning new things, trying new things, understanding our bodies better and becoming less self judgemental and less self-conscious.

We will typically have a warmup for strength or mobility, we will work on some strength, mobility or movement skills in our current program. We'll also have some movement games or improvisation activities, and a short cooldown to restore and reintegrate.

Can I pause or cancel my membership?

Of course.  Things happen and we totally understand. We don't do lock in contracts.  We just ask for a minimum 2 month commitment on recurring memberships and two weeks notice by email for cancellations and pauses. You can read the full policy here.

Do I need any experience to join? I'm not very flexible or strong:)

No prior experience is needed! Our classes are designed to be accessible for all levels as you will always practice at a level that is difficult but doable.  If you are keen to sweat, laugh, and try new things in an appropriate way for you, then you will be just fine.  And the Body Prep Movement Pass is the best way to start. â€‹â€‹â€‹
